2022-2023

I am currently working on writing my second graphic novel entitled “Pieces of Me”, which explores recovery from a mental health breakdown and living with mental illness. This phase of the project is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.

Another film festival selection for Sofia's Epicenter/Пъпът на София. The film will play at the Blue Danube Film Festival in Vienna and Budapest on November 28th and 29th and on-line on the territory of the two countries from November 20th - 29th.

Пъпът на София/Sofia’s Epicenter will have its North American premiere at the Antimatter Media Art Festival in Victoria, Canada.

My short film “Пъпът на София/Sofia’s Epicenter” will have its world premiere at the Kinonmorphia Film Festvial in Sofia, Bulgaria at the historic cinema Vlaykova, minutes away from where the film was shot.

18.04.2020 Cadence: Video Poetry Festival

I am happy to announce that my film "With Air and Salt, Unbreakable Health" was selected for the Cadence: Video Poetry Festival Showcase[Online], the only festival dedicated to video poetry in the PNW, which fosters critical and creative growth around its genre. The film will be part of the series Better Left Unsaid which you can watch on-line at 7:30 pm on Sat Apr 18.

09.10.2019 Venice Biennale - Essay in Digital Catalog

A year and a half ago, I was given a chance to lead the project, #OnTheLandWithNoahPiugattuk, an interactive story map following the respected Inuit elder and leader Noah Piugattuk and showing how Inuit use of the land in the Igloolik area changed in the 20th century. This digital map provides background information to the film "One Day in the Life of Noah Piugattuk" which is currently showing at La Biennale di Venezia, premiered at TIFF and just won Best Canadian Feature film in Vancouver International Film Festival. My essay about my experience of creating this project, just got published in the Isuma digital catalogue for the Venice Biennale. Enjoy reading!

11.05.2019-30.10.2019 Venice Biennale - Canadian Pavilion

The Inuit led Isuma collective which I am a part of, is representing Canada at the 58th Venice Biennale. This is a wonderful opportunity for the world to see the amazing work Inuit are doing and to acquaint yourself with Inuit culture. Accompanying the pavilion presentation will be a digital exhibition, to which my creative team will contribute this interactive story map On the Land with Noah Piugattuk.

I received the mentorship program for an animation I am developing and will have the chance to work with the award winning animator Éléonore Goldberg.

My experimental film With Air and Salt, Unbreakable Health (7 min, 2018) will have its world premiere at the prestigious Solothurn Film Festival, Switzerland. The piece will screen twice, on Sunday the 27th and Tuesday the 29th, proceeding L’Apollon de Gaza by Nicolas Wadimoff.
